Voice-based human-computer interaction is still largely confined to native applications and proprietary SDKs (Alexa, Siri). The web platform's native voice capabilities are powerful but widely underutilized by developers. The challenge was to build a fully functional, hands-free AI assistant running entirely in the browser — using the Web Speech API for both recognition and synthesis — proving that the next generation of voice interfaces can be deployed with zero native code.

Architected a command-execution engine using the Web Speech API's SpeechRecognition interface for continuous voice input and SpeechSynthesis for natural text-to-speech responses. Implemented a custom NLP intent classification layer in JavaScript that maps spoken commands to executable actions: web navigation, information retrieval, calculations, system control (time, date, alarms), and creative tasks. The voice command registry is designed as a modular, extensible plugin system, allowing new capabilities to be added via simple configuration objects.

Jarvis proved that sophisticated voice interfaces are achievable on the open web platform without any proprietary SDK, subscription, or backend. The command intent classification system — a lightweight rule-based NLP engine — demonstrated that pattern matching and semantic similarity, without a full LLM, can handle the vast majority of practical voice commands. This architecture directly informs the voice interface modules being built for enterprise accessibility compliance projects, where hands-free operation is a legal and ethical requirement.
